A wadi is a name for valley. They usually have water coming from the mountains and they are filled with palm trees, little ponds and lots of people to enjoy them. In this very hot and dry country they truly are a source of delight.

The beaches are beautiful too. There are sandy beaches stretching out for miles and rocky cliffs with the salt water pounding them. Marian talking to some young Omani girls. Not all of them wanted to be in the picture.

Turtle beach. Near Sur thousands of turtles lay their eggs and then retreat back in the salty water. They usually show up in the middle of the night. All we could find was their tracks in the sand. We were too late to book a guided tour (either at 4 AM or at 9 PM). However, we found some small beaches that looked very private and the turtles had definitely been there. We'll find them next time.

The Omanis make beautiful corniches to go walk along the seaside. They decorate them with tiles and beautiful tile compositions.
