Our new home in Sohar,Oman.

Here is our new home in Sohar,Oman. Sohar is a small town in the North of Oman, a couple hours driving from the capital Muscat, and also a couple hours from Dubai in UAE.

Our house is the middle unit of five villas. We have 2 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms! Also a good size kitchen, a living and a dining room. The floors are all tiled and the stairway is marble.

The house is on a farm property. It is a very quiet neighborhood, but in the morning we get wake up calls very early from the roosters, dogs and the nearby mosque with its call for prayer (4:30 AM).

We are close to the center of town (the town is stretched along the sea (Gulf of Oman), a few miles wide and about 25 miles long (north-south).

On the back side of the house we see date trees. The green parakeet on the picture came to eat the ripe dates with his buddies. The picture was taken through the kitchen window.

For about 6 months Oman is extremely hot, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (+100 Fahrenheit). From October/November to March/April temperatures get very pleasant, mornings and evenings are cooler.
